Democratic Rhetoric Blamed for Assassination Attempt on Trump

(ImpactHeadlines.com) – After Saturday’s shooting at Donald Trump’s rally left the former president wounded, one spectator dead, and two critically injured, some Republicans have begun to blame liberals and Democrats.

Even while Trump himself did not assign blame, many of his supporters did, pointing out hateful and violent rhetoric by the left, such as President Joe Biden, who said it was time to put Trump in “the bullseye.” In an interview with Leser Holt, Biden weakly explained away his remark by saying, “I didn’t say crosshairs.”

Speaker Mike Johnson of the House, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of the Senate, and previous Speaker Nancy Pelosi of the House have all strongly condemned the assassination attempt and urged unity from across the chamber. Nevertheless, some continue to use social media to inflame us-versus-them rhetoric. Meanwhile, the former president has said that his upcoming RNC speech will be devoted to asking for unity.

Not learning from Trump’s want for unity, the attack was connected to incendiary rhetoric directed at the former president, according to House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, who accused Democrats of attempting “to murder President Trump.” Representative Mike Collins went a step further, demanding that President Biden be indicted for instigating an assassination.

According to Ohio Republican Senator JD Vance, who was recently revealed as Trump’s choice for running mate, the core argument of the Biden campaign is that the current president is a totalitarian fascist who must be opposed no matter what.

The number of voices on the right speaking out following the assassination attempt include:

  • Trump campaign co-manager Chris LaCivita, who is demanding justice for the president’s assassination attempt from Democratic funders, left-wing activists, and Joe Biden.
  • Trump’s 2020 campaign manager, Brad Parscale, slammed the shooting, calling it a “deep state plot” or the Secret Service’s greatest failure ever.
  • Republican Ron DeSantis of Florida, the governor of the Sunshine State, also called for an investigation into the attempted assassination but accused the federal bureaucracy of being inadequate.
  • Representative Derrick Van Orden (R-Wis.) blamed the “lefties,” claiming that violence is more prevalent among the left than the right.
  • Congressman Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) scolded Collins (R-GA) for claiming without proof that “Joe Biden sent the orders,” saying that the probable assassination attempt and gun violence against Trump are terrible on many levels and that it is unworthy of a congressman to add gasoline to the political fire.

Time will tell if Trump’s call for unity will bridge the divide.
